How does it work
Group A ß-haemolytic streptococcus bacteria may be involved in case of sore throat infections. To treat it using antibiotic therapy, it is first necessary to identify it. Thanks to the specific extraction process of throat swab samples, a Group A streptococcus marker (LPS antigen) can be isolated and further identified using specific anti-LPS antigen antibodies. Self-test for the detection of Group A Streptococcus bacteria in throat infections Results after 10 minutes
When can the test be used
Strep A test can be carried out if there are symptoms such as pain when swallowing, sore throat, red and swollen tonsils (sometimes with white spot or pus), small red patched on the back of the palate (soft and hard), swollen lymph nodes, fever, headache, nausea or vomiting especially in children.
Can the result be incorrect?
The result is accurate if the test has been carried out correctly and carefully. Please note that false negatives can occur with any test and if you still experience symptoms of Strep A, you should consult your doctor or call 111.
